Yamaha Aerox E Unveiled in India: Powerful Electric Scooter with 106 Km Range
Yamaha has officially launched the Yamaha Aerox E, its first high-performance electric scooter, marking a significant entry into India’s evolving electric two-wheeler market. The Aerox E combines sporty design, advanced technology, and eco-friendly electric mobility, targeting urban riders who want power, style, and sustainability.
Yamaha Aerox E: Design and Style
Yamaha Aerox E maintains the aggressive and sharp styling of its petrol-powered sibling, the Aerox 155. Yamaha’s signature twin LED headlights, muscular body panels, and wide tires give it a sporty edge. The electric scooter looks every bit as striking, with a sleek matte finish and modern LED tail lights.
Despite being an electric scooter, the Aerox E does not compromise on aesthetics or build quality, appealing to young riders wanting a stylish and capable daily urban commuter.
Powerful Electric Motor and Dual Battery System
At the heart of the Aerox E is a robust 9.4 kW (peak) electric motor that produces an impressive 48 Nm of torque, delivering instant acceleration and smooth riding performance. This powertrain allows the scooter to zip through city traffic with ease, making it ideal for quick commutes.
The Aerox E is equipped with a dual removable battery system comprising two 1.5 kWh batteries, offering a combined capacity of 3 kWh. This system provides a certified range of 106 km on a single charge, allowing riders to travel longer distances without frequent stops. The batteries can be conveniently removed for easy home charging, adding practical convenience.
Multiple Riding Modes and Features
Yamaha offers three riding modes on the Aerox E: Eco, Standard, and Power. Each mode optimizes performance and battery usage to suit different riding conditions. Additionally, there is a Boost mode, giving the scooter rapid acceleration for quick overtakes and bursts of speed.
To enhance usability, the Aerox E features a reverse mode, which is especially useful in tight parking spots or narrow urban lanes. Another highlight is the smart key system, allowing keyless ignition and added security.
Advanced TFT Display and Connectivity
The Aerox E comes with a fully digital 5-inch TFT instrument cluster that is bright and easy to read. It provides vital information, including speed, battery status, riding mode, range, and turn-by-turn navigation via Bluetooth connectivity with the Yamaha Y-Connect app. This connectivity allows riders to stay updated on scooter diagnostics and control certain features via their smartphones.
Safety and Braking
Safety is paramount in the Yamaha Aerox E. The scooter is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, enhanced by a single-channel ABS system for effective stopping power and increased rider confidence. Additionally, traction control helps maintain grip on slippery surfaces, contributing to a safer ride.
Ergonomics and Practicality
The Aerox E has been ergonomically tuned to provide a comfortable and engaging ride. While the battery placement slightly reduces under-seat storage compared to the petrol version, the scooter still offers practical space for everyday essentials.
Weighing approximately 139 kg, the Aerox E is lightweight for an electric scooter of its power class, aiding maneuverability in urban traffic.
